About Me

I too, have felt overwhelmed at everything that needs to be done. If you want to free yourself from the stress and panic, then you’re in the right place!

Gain peace of mind

I know you don’t want to have your mind racing all the time. By organizing your time and activities you’ll be able to free up brain cells to just relax and be present in your life.

My story

I feel like I spent most of my childhood outside despite growing up “in the city”. In addition to playing outside in the suburbs I’m also very familiar with the Indiana State Parks system. A majority of my childhood family vacations were taken at a DNR property of some sort or another. Add to that the fact that we live in the woods of Brown County, Indiana and a twenty minute drive from Brown County State Park and you can see we almost have to spend a lot of time outside. We’ve learned a lot over the years just from looking around us.

I’ve taken care of most of the cooking, finances, and planning for my family since Buddy and I were married. 13 years and 6 daughters later, I’ve learned a lot along the way. Most of that learning came from mistakes I made, some bigger than others. We’ve stressed a lot about finances over the years, but I’m determined to free us from that financial stress.
You’ll have to excuse me if I get a little excited about making spreadsheets or figuring out a schedule. Buddy would tell you that they’re some of my favorite things. That makes me feel rather nerdy, but I’m okay with that.

In addition to the areas I focus on in my blog, I’m also really big on crafting. When I’m not reading a book I’m crocheting something. If you are too you should check out my craft blog, Stitching in the Woods. I handle the business side and some of the crafting of McLaren Family Crafts, too. My other hobbies are playing French horn (can’t do it much anymore), traveling, ham (amateur) radio, and killing plants, er, gardening.

 Our homeschool story

Buddy and I were both public schooled. We might’ve raised our kids the same except that we had friends at church that homeschooled, which is the first we heard of it. We researched it and liked what we saw. Buddy’s second shift schedule, meaning he would only get to see the kids on the weekends and breaks, pushed us to decide to homeschool.

We’ve been “officially” homeschooling for 5 years now. It’s been a long, hard road due to us moving and difficult pregnancies. I’ve been learning a lot myself along the way and I hope to be able to present that learning to you to help you on your homeschooling journey.

Now what?

If you’ve made it this far, then I’m guessing you’re willing to stick around to learn and help others in my blog community. I hope to see you around!
